Policies

The policies contained in this web site are exact duplicates of specimen policies issued by the HOW Companies before those entities were placed in permanent receivership on October 14, 1994. The Deputy Receiver disclaims any responsibility for missing or inaccurate information contained in those documents. These policies have been included in the HOW Companies’ web site as a convenience only. In order to obtain coverage for a covered defect in a particular home, a claimant must establish that the defect is covered by an active policy in accordance with policies and procedures established by the Deputy Receiver.

If your home was built after May of 1986 and you would like to review the specimen policies that could apply to your home, please see the HOW 500 series that are listed below. During September of 1994, the HOW Companies began to issue a new product covering some of the homes enrolled in the HOW Program that offered 10-year coverage for new homes. Therefore, if your home was built after August of 1994, please contact the HOW Companies if you are not certain whether your home is covered under the HOW 500 series or the new product. You may also contact the HOW Companies if you desire additional information concerning the new product.

If your home was remodeled after August 1986 and you would like to review specimen policies that could apply to your home, please see the HOW 800 series that are listed below.
